From our Director
We are so excited to be able to launch our first online newsletter of the year.  The newsletter will be sent on a monthly basis. It will be filled with pictures and information about what happens at Lev Chana every day.  The children have been making new friends, renewing friendships with old ones, and adjusting beautifully to their new routines.  Read about our exciting programs and enjoy our many pictures to get a sense of what we do every day.  It is a world filled with wonderment and discovery in a Torah enriched environment.  Exploring through play, our children begin to acquire the many academic and social skills they need to be successful lifelong learners.  We hope you enjoy the monthly highlights, the adorable children's quotes, and of course the beautiful pictures!

 Chagei Chodesh Tishrei

Here at Lev Chana the children learn about the chagim through a multisensory approach. As you have read in the teachers' newsletters, each class has been busy singing, crafting, tasting, smelling, reading and discussing the various aspects of each chag. Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, Succot, and Simchat Torah have been the themes permeating our walls and halls every day! While the topics and discussions have been similar in all of the grades, each one has been enhanced with developmentally appropriate activities allowing all of the children to internalize the messages of this special time of year. The children have brought home some of their handiwork to enhance these celebrations with you. We hope you enjoy sharing with your children what they have learned.
Art From The Heart of Lev Chana
Here at Lev Chana, we have a unique art program designed for the 4 year nursery and the kindergarten children. Throughout the course of the school year the children will be introduced to many modern artists. They will learn about techniques and use of different mediums. As a culmination to our program the school hosts a night at Lev Chana's Museum featuring the works of our own "modern artists". Also, the kindergarten children will visit MOMA. It's a wonderful trip and a highlight we look forward to.
In preparation for Succot, the 4 year nursery children made their original hanging decorations by coloring with permanent marker and sticking wikki sticks onto a sheet of transparency film which was then folded to protect their work.
The kindergarten's hanging sculptures were prepared by looping beaded pipe cleaners through punch foil for that added  shimmer.
Each child was encouraged to do their own work to the best of their abilities. They are all pleased with their accomplishments and will be so proud to see their decoration hanging.

Have a wonderful Chag and a good year!

Visits With Rabbi Klammer

The children at Lev Chana look forward to visits from Rabbi Klammer! Every Thursday, Rabbi Klammer joins us at Lev Chana for singing, storytelling, and interacting with the children. Every week a different grade gathers in our backroom for a pre Shabbat Oneg. Rabbi Klammer plays games with the children and always shares a meaningful story or lesson with them. You can see from our picture gallery how much they both enjoy their time together.

Dancing With the Honey Bees

On Thursday September 17, we were privileged, once again, to have a visit from a honey bee keeper named Cliff Sunflower. Mr. Cliff has a honey bee farm in Pennsylvania and came to teach us all about honey bees. His program was exciting and engaging and gave us all a wealth of information about the lifecycle of the honey bees and how they make honey. The children were truly entertained as well. We would like to thank all of the parent volunteers who came to help. We would also like to thank Women's League for sponsoring the event. Special events like this one truly enhance the learning that takes place at Lev Chana.
